For World Gin Day, I thought I would highlight some of the unique and amazing Gin brands Canada has to offer. We have so many different styles and infusions made available, but I wanted to showcase a gin that has received a ton of worldwide attention distilled in our very own east coast!
I know for Ontario, many of you haven’t heard of Steinhart Gin. Well here’s the thing…it’s kind of a big deal considering they won Best Classic Canadian Gin at the World Gin Awards in 2019! This and the MANY other awards the distillery has achieved should be recognized, hence why I had to create a cocktail in their honour.
With a gin this good, I didn’t want to mask it. I wanted Steinhart Gin to shine through in a classic recipe, so I went with one of my favourites; the Vesper Martini! But this isn’t any Vesper martini. Instead of vodka, I added Calvados and I switched the Lillet Blanc with the delicious and weighty Cocchi Americano. This cocktail has all the right body, weight and silk that I LOVE in a martini, and this has become my official go-to. Curious how the classic Bond Vesper Martini got a serious Canadian facelift? Well you can find the recipe below!
