There are moments where I love a cocktail concept, but then I start to doubt if it’s just too simple. I question whether it’s too boring for Liquid Culture, or that it doesn’t showcase enough creativity…And just as I’m writing those thoughts out, I quickly shut down that negativity!
We have classic combinations for a reason. A Rum and Coke provides this undeniable thirst quench, the Rye and Ginger highlights a refreshing spice and heat, and I don’t think you can go more iconic than a Gin and Tonic. Before my obsession with Negroni’s and Agave, their was Gin, and that love will always be there. And the G+T world will continue to excite and bring on something new with the variety of different styled Gins and the ever expanding tonic flavours.
So for this hump day, I was inspired by a fellow Drinkstagrammer and it hit me…PEACH ICE CUBES! What a perfect, simple and subtle way to introduce peach flavours to an iconic combination. Folks, it’s as simple as that. I poured Ceres Peach Juice into large ice cube molds, and once that froze over, I created my G+T. If it hasn’t already hit you yet, the possibilities are limitless here. Throw some herbs in the ice cube molds, or if you don’t have any peach juice, create a syrup with maybe some cinnamon and clove and top with water in the molds. It doesn’t even have to be peaches, throw in any of your favourite juices and mixes.
And that’s it! I’m not even throwing in a recipe card here, because it truly is that simple. Just keep in mind the appropriate ratio of 1:4 for the Gin and Tonic measures. Until next hump day xo.
