There is something so satisfying about a Ramos Gin Fizz, so when I was developing recipes for Collective Art’s newest Plum Blackthorn Gin, I knew I had to shake it up in this classic. Your arm may hurt after this one, but it will be worth EVERY sip.
The concept of cream and gin was so foreign to me for a long time. I didn’t get how a bright, herbaceous gin could be complimented by cream, but believe me it works. Especially for someone that doesn’t care for a sweet cocktail, a Ramos Gin Fizz in the right balance, can be so refreshing and satisfying!
One of the reasons I chose to do a Ramos with this gin, is because I’m getting a ton of Lavender on the palate. Now that can be completely subjective to my palate, or maybe the distillers have gotten around to adding it to the botanicals. Whether or not that’s the case, it adds this level of aroma that I LOVE in a Ramos. That’s another reason why you’ll find that the classic will typically include a couple drops of Rose Water or Orange Blossom.
So with that, and my ready made Plum Cordial (to find out the recipe, follow here), this has turned into my favourite Ramos to date. That’s a big statement, I know, but with that bright plum cordial, paired with the gin and that mint bouquet on top, well, it’s perfect. See how I whip it up below!
