Let’s get real. There was no way as a Brazilian that I wouldn’t share my love for Cachaca in this special episode where we travel around the world with Spirits. Today I’m shaking up a classic Caipirinha but with a Fall flair. See how I whip it up here!
Cachaca (pronounced – KA-SHA-SA)
On today’s segment with the ladies of The Social, we’re travelling around the world with unique spirits in mind. For those of you that didn’t know, Brazil has their own national Spirit, and if you haven’t already guessed, it’s Cachaca!
Cachaca is a Brazilian Rum, made from fresh sugarcane juice. A few fun facts about Cachaca is that it must be made in Brazil, derive from sugarcane juice and have a minimum of 38% ABV. With a national spirit, comes a national cocktail, and if you’ve never tasted a Caipirinha, you don’t know what you’re missing. Think of it as the Brazilian Daiquiri, typically served with fresh lime and sugar.
Much like Rum, Cachaca can come in a variety of aged expressions, unique still infusions and so much more. So make sure that if you travel to Brazil at any point, that you sample a few of the different varieties out there!
I always like to keep my cocktails simple on the show, hence why I wanted to whip up this classic. But instead, I threw in some of my favourite Autumn flavours such as Apple Cider and Honey for this riff. You can see how I whip this cocktail together by following this link to my segment, or you can read below. Cheers!
