I have phases with my top 3 boozy classics. Whether it’s an Old Fashion, Manhattan or Negroni, I always make sure that my bar is stocked to make these staples. Now a lot of bars do insane concoctions of an Old Fashioned, but sometimes you need something quick, easy, but maybe something a bit from the classic. I created a version that doesn’t ask for too much attention, but spices up your OF life.
Another great way to play with this recipe is substituting maple syrup instead of sugar. An added bonus, which is HIGHLY recommended is rinsing the inside of your glass with a peaty scotch (such as laphroaig) to kick up the smoky flavour. I don’t typically carry a lot of single malts on my bar but Laphroaig is a great addition. It’s amazing how a few drops of this whisky can dramatically affect a drink.
