Canada Day Special

I have always had a serious love for travelling, and wherever I go is typically 99.9% dictated by food and drinks. But the more I travel abroad, the more I appreciate and love Canada as my home. With that said, I think my next big trip needs to include a coast to coast journey of this beautiful country. Anyone want to sponsor me?

Anyway this year was the big 150! Celebrating 150 years of Independence and I had to show my appreciation the only way I knew how, which is creating a Canadian inspired cocktail (or two) using our abundant resources. I’ve also included a fun Canada Day special Jello Shot that I’m sure would please the kid in all of us.

Author Monica C

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Canadian Club 100% Rye
  • 1/2 oz Aperol
  • 1/4 oz Roasted Strawberry Puree
  • 1/3 oz Maple Syrup
  • 1 zest Lemon

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients (except lemon) above in a mixing glass and stir until fairly chilled

  2. Zest a double rocks glass with lemon, place ice inside the glass and strain

Recipe Notes

If you don't have a mixing glass or just simply don't want the mess, combine all the ingredients in a double rocks glass before adding ice. Be sure that the ingredients (in particular the maple syrup) are well combined so you don't have an overly sweet beverage by the end of the glass. Enjoy!
