I can’t believe it has taken me this long to put up a sour on the website. I don’t have it often, but what is not to love about a perfectly balanced sour?! For those new to the bartending scene, I know that the thought of egg whites in a cocktail may seem intimidating and weird. So I decided to omit egg whites from this recipe to make it beginners-friendly. For those uptight hipsters that are giving me a dirty look right now, just let me slowly ease the masses into this, OKAY?!
This cocktail pretty much screams Canadiana. It uses Canadian Club’s 100% Rye, with Quebec’s famous Sortilege Whisky Blueberry Liqueur and good old Maple Syrup. I don’t know what else to tell you other than you gotta try this yourself!
Canadian Blueberry Sour
A simple and easy rendition of a Whisky Sour but with the Canadian touch
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
- 1 oz Rye recommended Canadian Club 100% Rye
- ½ oz Sortilege Blueberry Liqueur
- 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 oz Blueberry Juice
- ½ oz Maple Syrup
Instructions
Place all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and give it a hard shake (you’ll want to make sure the syrup is well combined in the beverage, so give it some time)
Strain over an double rocks filled with ice and garnish
Recipe Notes
For the Blueberry Juice, I used the Bolthouse brand of Blueberry Goodness. This could be found in the chilled juice aisle at your grocery store. Now I will admit, it can contain quite a bit of sugar, or maybe you just can’t get your hands on it. So if you want to go with the fresh option, blend up blueberry with a touch of water, and adjust the maple syrup in the cocktail to your desired sweetness.
